teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi

After many failed attempts to visit Japan, I started to wonder if I would ever get the chance to experience teamLab - the renowned interactive art collective based in Tokyo. You can imagine my excitement when I discovered there was a location right in Abu Dhabi!

teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi features immersive, multi-sensory installations that explore themes of nature, science, and the environment. Wandering through the different rooms felt like stepping into another world, with each space offering a completely unique sensory experience. Beyond the artwork itself, the museum’s architecture was equally captivating - designed by MZ Architects, the building envelope is a work of art in its own right.

I’ve also included a few photos from my walk through the Saadiyat Cultural District, which is home to an incredible collection of museums and cultural experiences - including the Louvre.

Louvre Abu Dhabi

Visiting the Louvre Abu Dhabi was a highlight of trip. Also located on Saadiyat Island, the Louvre was designed by renowned French architect Jean Nouvel and opened to the public in 2017. Set right on the water, the Louvre’s most iconic feature is the magnificent floating dome, with an intricate geometric pattern inspired by the way “rays of sunlight pass through date palm fronds in an oasis.”

Walking beneath the dome was an unexpectedly emotional experience for me. The interplay of light, shadow, and architecture was absolutely breathtaking. I found myself tearing up at the beauty. The photos truly don’t do it justice. It is a place that has to be experienced in person.
